Causes and protective measures of electric actuator motor overload

2020-06-16

Analysis of the reasons for the overload of electric actuator motor:

1. The setting value of the torque limiting mechanism is not correct, and the stopping torque is less than its setting value, which causes excessive torque to be continuously generated and stops the motor.

2. The torque limiting mechanism circuit fails due to some reasons, resulting in excessive torque.

3. The high ambient temperature will relatively reduce the thermal capacity of the motor.

4. The voltage of the power supply is too low, making it unable to obtain the required torque, causing the motor to stop rotating.

5. With continuous use, the heat generated exceeds the allowable temperature rise of the motor.

Generally run within a predetermined time, the motor will not be overloaded.

The protection measures for electric actuator motor under load include the following:

1. Protect the motor from stalling by using thermal relays.

2. Protect the overload of continuous motor operation or electric operation by using a thermostat.

3. Short circuit accidents can be effectively avoided by using fuses or overcurrent relays.
