Application of linear actuators in wind energy equipment

2020-11-02
Wind conditions are usually best only in places far away or hard to reach, such as in the sea, in the middle of a large area, and on the top of a mountain. Harsh environments require robust solutions. Sustainability is a must, while maintenance needs need to be minimized.

Passport lifting and parking brake
Because these cabins are too heavy, they cannot be operated manually. The turbine itself also needs a parking electromagnetic brake, so in the case of overhaul or in both cases, linear actuators and screw jacks are ideal solutions. The rotor can stay in the correct position when it needs to be stopped according to wind conditions.

With hydraulic equipment ratings, actuators and screw jacks are cleaner. In addition, no pumps, pipes, valves and through openings are required. These also have no hazards or maintenance requirements.
When the limit switch at the end of the stroke is available, the positioning process becomes very simple.
Installation and operation are also very simple.
There are a variety of installation methods for Pava actuators or screw jacks, which can be flexibly configured.

Shield lift
For a very heavy shield, a certain amount of power must be applied to open it (even if it is covered by ice), so actuators or screw jacks are ideal choices.

Rotor brake
During maintenance or when wind conditions require the rotor to stop rotating, we must use electromagnetic brakes.

On the sea, desert or plain
For most electromechanical components, salt water, ice, sandstorms, high humidity and extreme temperatures will affect their environment. Actuators and screw jacks have an IP67 actuator protection level, and their sturdiness is sufficient for this job.
